Warning Signs Before Getting Married
This is a guest post by Sean Goudeloc.
Not everyone goes through premarital counseling before they get married and that is a shame if you are left saying I want to get married. You need to be sure that you do all you can to be sure that this is right for the two of you. Here are some warning signs that marriage might not be the thing for you.
1. Too Much Debt
The first warning sign is if either of you has too much debt. Not only is now not a good time to get married just due to the fact that you should be paying some of the debt off rather than spending the money on a wedding, but you need to look at how this is going to affect your marriage.
The number one thing that people fight about when they are married is money.
2. You Don’t Feel Safe
The other warning sign you need to look at is if you are safe in the relationship. There are some women who find that they don’t feel safe with the guy they are with. The longer amount of time you spend with a man, you should grow closer and not fear him. If this isn’t happening, then you need to find someone that you do feel safe around.
3. He Doesn’t Feel the Same Way You Do
Another type of warning sign you want to be more than certain you look at if you are trying to see if marriage is right for you even if you claim I want to get married would be that you want to make sure that he feels the same way as you do.
If he doesn’t want to plan the wedding or he doesn’t want to make time for you then you need to ask him if this is really what he wants. He might just tell you no.
4. Are You Getting Married for the Wrong Reasons?
Other things we tell people to do when they are looking to get married is to be sure that they are getting married for all the right reasons and not the wrong ones. This should be about love and nothing else.
There are some that get married because a baby is on the way and while it’s sweet and responsible and healthy for the baby, it’s not fair to you. You can get married after the baby is born if that is what you so choose.
Some get married so they can go away if the other is moving. If you are in love, love will last.
Others might get married because a visa is about to expire. These seem like good reasons, but the time should be right for you not your circumstances.

These are a few warning signs. You need to be sure he is faithful and that you trust him because though you say I want to get married, what many forget is that marriage is supposed to be till death do you part.
When you find that you have nothing to worry about and both of you are ready, then you know it’s time to start planning that wedding for the time you choose. Don’t let anyone persuade you otherwise.
